Frequently asked questions

What are Terpenes?

  • Terpenes are fragrant oils found in many types of plants that produce a unique taste and smell.
  • The tastes and smells of the terpenes in cannabis products have a very diverse range of aromas. Strains can produce a terpene profile that is earthy, woodsy, herbal, spicy, diesel or cheesy, all the way to citrusy or sweet.
  • Since many terpenes are associated with various types of plants and herbs used in naturopathic remedies, some theorize that terpenes play a role in the effect of cannabis
  • Top 5 Most Common Terpenes Found in Cannabis: Myrcene, Pinene, Limonene, Linalool, Beta-Caryophyllene

What is CBD?

  • Unlike THC, CBD generally has no intoxicating effect. CBD interacts with the human Endocannabinoid System by encouraging the release of our own endocannabinoids. As a natural product, the CBD content in a dried flower cannabis product may vary from product to product and lot to lot.
  • Studies to date suggest that rather than binding to the CB1 receptors in the human endocannabinoid system, as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) does, CBD acts differently, increasing or improving the production of our own endocannabinoids.
  • Recent studies also suggest CBD may alter the effects of other natural chemicals in our bodies, including serotonin, which modulates mood and stress; adenosine, which impacts our sleep-wake cycle; and vanilloid, which contributes to pain modulation.

How Will Cannabis Affect Me?

  • Cannabis effects depend on many factors, such as your genetic makeup, frequency of use, age, sex, current mood and personality, and any existing mental health conditions. Customers should do their own unbiased research when shopping for and choosing cannabis products
  • Humans and cannabis plants share similar chemical compounds called cannabinoids (in people, they’re known as endocannabinoids). We produce them naturally through our endocannabinoid system, which is thought to control how we feel, move and react. We also have cannabinoid receptor sites all over our bodies, which the endocannabinoids bind to. The plant’s cannabinoids — the most studied of which are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) — also interact with these receptors and inhibit the way they function.

Can I Bring My Children into Cannabis Forest?

No.  Cannabis dispensaries in Ontario are under the same framework as casinos.  Unlike the LCBO or Beer Store, the AGCO does not permit children or anyone under the age of 19 in authorized cannabis retail stores.

We recognize this can be a major inconvenience for parents.  To help alleviate this, we offer curbside pick-up.  Our products can be seen online under the 'online store' tab.  Easily add products to cart and proceed with order - or simply call us (705)778-3226 and we'll be happy to set it aside until you arrive.

Who Owns Cannabis Forest?

Cannabis Forest is privately owned and operated by local husband and wife, Patrick and Sam Hogan.  We were both drawn to Havelock with it's quaint village feel, beautiful forestry and so many amenities nearby.

We moved to Havelock in 2017 with high hopes to build our future here.

Little did we know that we would be opening a cannabis shop down the street.

We wanted to breathe life back into one of Havelock's former hot spots.

It's an awesome feeling to bring nostalgia back for customers that remember sharing meals with their families here, or meeting friends out back behind the old car wash.

This is truly a dream come true for us.

We are able to share our passion and knowledge of cannabis with our neighbours and customers.  As consumers ourselves, we thrive to constantly bring new and exciting strains and products into the shop.

We look forward to serving Havelock and the surrounding communities for years to come.
